LG G2
LG is hedging its bets on a variety of different ways. The phone is packed to the gills with the best parts of the technology available and the focus of LG software seems to be "if you do not like what we do and then changed. 'But this power and gel variety on phone actually wants more than all others?
DISPLAY
LG G2 is weakest of how it looks and feels . There is a phone that gives a good first impression , and this is a terrible shame . You need to know the G2 to love , but many people never do even more with it than a passing glance at the phone shop .
LG chooses a shiny plastic chassis , which will remind some of the older iPhone 3G and certainly not the latest models of Apple. Up close, the battery cover has a subtle fabric I texture to it , which is very attractive, but almost invisible unless the phone is at the correct angle .
The more feature that attracts the attention of this design is the decision to put the power and volume buttons on the back of the phone , rather than along the sides. The three buttons sitting on a line directly under the camera lens , and while it may seem difficult to understand , how to make buttons easy to distinguish without looking.
The problem is that you constantly touch the camera lens on the search button , and then spend time to clean the lens before taking a shot. This, and no creation there seems no good reason to put the buttons on the back. We did not find this to be more convenient positioning buttons on the side, and more difficult in some situations. However , it feels like change for the sake of change.
Also, you can not take the battery cover of G2, so that the battery is not accessible, and it must be the first phone from LG without a slot for microSD cards for a long time.
DISPLAY
The physical design of the phone may not be innovative, 1080p resolution 5-inch IPS screen is a pleasure. This screen is bright, crisp and very sensitive to touch .
LG is proud to be able to bring the experience of its engineers for their smaller TV screens , and it's easy to see why. With the brightness ratcheted up to 100% is almost painful to see this screen. This also means it is excellent for outdoor use . Even in the bright morning light , we can still display in the G2 clearly right brightness setting .
With the power button on the back of the phone , LG has presented a " double tap " Wake and sleep command for this model. If the phone is in standby mode, you can double tap the screen to get it going . When finished , you can double tap to put it to sleep - but this only works if you tap a blank section of one of the home screens. If you touch an application in place, will be launched .
This has become one of those features that we miss as we have no more . Having gone to a different phone now , we continue to find double tap the screen to wake it up , only to meet with disappointment.
CAMERA
Unlike many of its biggest rivals Samsung and Sony, LG has no camera department scream for help when drawing up their phones, and it shows in the photos G2 adopted.
That said, there is some hardware that sounds awesome on this camera. LG chooses an image sensor of 13 megapixels - in line with the Galaxy Note 3 - and includes optical image stabilization, or moving parts to help eliminate hand tremors.
These photos are not terrible, but not great either. Are suitable for flicking around, but problems with the resolution of mixed light temperatures and clear pixelation means you can not always trust the G2 to drive far. Moreover, it is unlikely you will come away with one of those really amazing sometimes photos taken with an iPhone or Nokia.
PERFORMANCE
Coupled with the fantastic display, the performance of G2 is one of the main reasons to consider buying this phone. LG has some of the best materials today putting the G2 components together, and it shows in the fluid daily handling of the phone.
Better yet, it has a larger battery in a phone of this size, and while the screen is doing its best to suck the juice down, we still found that we had the power for two days in most case. Heavy use will challenge this assertion, but in our tests, we always found closer to the end of the second day before the power given.
OVERALL
The LG G2 gets the basics right, with first-class performance and battery life and one of the best touchscreens on the market. If you know how to add to this equation by uploading your own software changes from game store, then you're onto a winner with the G2.
If you are looking for the complete package, the G2 could disappoint. LG software suite is a strange mix of tools, most of which you never use, and the camera does not compare to the big names of photography smartphones. It is the physical design is also lacking that wow-factor you get the first time you see a phone like the HTC One, for example.
This is a frivolous list of negatives, and if you insist on better battery life on a beautiful phone, you must add the G2 to your list of handsets see for yourself....
